About PestFact
PestFact is a guide to household pests built from the real experience of homeowners, renters and pest control pros.
PestFact is a guide to pests in and around the house. We don't rewrite encyclopedias. Each profile is built from the stories of people who went from "we've got bugs" to "here's what finally worked" (or didn't), and from what working pest control technicians share. We name products, active ingredients, timelines and prices, and we say plainly what doesn't work.
How we write
- We start with forums and reviews (Reddit, homeowner communities, product reviews), then check against product labels and guidance from university extension services, the EPA and the CDC.
- Every article ends with a list of sources so you can check the original.
- Close-up photos of insects and bites are blurred by default. Tap "Show photo" when you're ready.
- We don't sell products and we don't work for pest control companies. The pest control section exists so you don't overpay.
What we don't do
We don't give medical advice. If a bite or sting causes a strong reaction, fever, or swelling of the face or throat, see a doctor or call 911. For questions about human parasites (lice, scabies), see a dermatologist.
